Yan Kee Noodle House
Singapore is famous for its bak chor mee. Everywhere, you will see stalls selling the same product. In order to stand out, you have to be different.

At the junction of South Bridge Rd and Circular Rd, there is a famous bak chor mee stall called “Yan Kee Noodle House”. Yes their specialty is bak chor mee, but not the normal mee gia or mee pok. They sell bak chor mee sua.

Now, if you ever tried cooking mee sua at home, you would know that it turns very soft and gluey if the fire and time is not well controlled. But here at Yan Kee, the mee sua is very well cooked, soft but not soggy, it felt like eating the skinny version of mee gia. The ivory noodles work as an excellent conduit for soaking up all that vinegar, chilli and fresh lard and is topped with crunchy ikan bilis and a whole mushroom.

Add another $1, you can have a bowl of fishball soup together with your bak chor mee sua. The fishballs are handmade, hence it is much bigger, very chewy and without the fishy smelly that most fishballs have. This stall is open 24 hours, so you can satisfy your lardy mee sua cravings anytime, day or night. Extremely gratifying after a night of boozing. They have another stall in Maxwell Road Food Centre as well.

Each bowl of bak chor mee sua is $3.50.
