Renowned for its famed honey toast and well-heeled crowd, the ultra-hip Dazzling Cafe, from Taiwan, has arrived in Singapore! Fans of the cafe’s popular snacks can enjoy these delights at the flagship store, opening at the newly renovated Capitol Piazza, opposite Raffles City, along North Bridge Road.

Dazzling Cafe was first launched in 2010 in Taiwan, called Dazzling Cafe Pink, where it was conceptualised as a cosy and intimate place to meet up with friends for tea or coffee breaks. Since then, Dazzling Cafe has been aggressively expanding, with 9 outlets all over Taiwan, and different themes for each café. The chain also expanded overseas, to China, with 4 outlets in Shanghai since May 2013, 1 outlet in Hong Kong since April 2014 and now, it has opened its first ever South East Asian outlet in Singapore.

Dazzling Cafe Food: Shibuya-Style Honey Toast with Haagen Dazs Ice Cream and a Honey Jug

The success of the Dazzling chain relies on the menu, interior design and customer service. I was expecting a queue, but surprisingly, it was a instant walk-in during my visit on a weekday afternoon. I ordered a Black Truffle and Wild Mushroom Spaghetti ($24.90). Tossed truffle cream sauce, it is complemented by wild mushroom and parmesan cheese. The truffle taste is quite mild on my day of visit, especially when I am a huge truffle lover. I should have ordered Dazzling’s Mentaiko served with shredded seaweed and a spoonful of roe at the tip of the pasta, mixed with creamy sauce and Mentaiko roe.

Even though the pasta wasn’t impressive, I must say that I really like their famous Shibuya-style honey toast. The team at Dazzling came up with a their in-house toasting technique which is used for their popular honey toast and waffle. The honey toast includes ingredients such as strawberries, honey, custard, pistachio, a scoop of Haagen Dazs Ice Cream and is lastly finished off with a honey jug just beside the crispy yet soft toast.

I went for the Mango and Coconut Gelato Honey Toast ($18.90) which is only available in Singapore. Absolutely love the sweet ‘dazzling’ yellow mango cubes. Pairing the crispy toast with coconut gelato reminds me of old school ice cream bread that I always eat. It is a perfect dish to pair with their exclusive Mariage Freres and Hediard tea selections during afternoon tea dates. Go for their Wedding Imperial Tea! I will come back for their honey toast, and also try their Signature mochi “QQ” Waffle.
