Mark your calendars, because Singapore’s Biggest Bay Festival is back! The eighth edition of its kind, DBS Marina Regatta will play host to some of the top international dragon boat teams, and is the venue of all things exciting.

Happening from 31 May to 2 June 2019 at The Promontory @ Marina Bay, DBS Marina Regatta welcomes an impressive line-up of next generation hawkerpreneurs who are ready to whip up a storm, and up-and-coming social enterprises that are here to make a difference. Here are 8 amazing food stalls and social enterprises you should check out!

1. Mr Lorbak

Savour the mouth-watering melt-in-your-mouth lor bak, or Braised Pork Belly Rice Bowl ($8) by Mr Lorbak! Adhering strictly to his beloved grandmother’s recipe, William Liou’s lu ruo fan comprises of tender and juicy pork belly that has been braised for hours, an onsen egg, mild black fungus and fluffy white rice. This is unparalleled comfort food!

2. Carrot Cubes

Specialising in fresh, handmade carrot cake, Claire Huang of Carrot Cubes will be serving up one of our hawker staples with a modern twist! Not only will there be the Traditional White Carrot Cake ($5), you can expect hip variations oozing with rich flavours such as the Hottie Carrot Cake ($6) and the mouth-watering Bacon & Cubes ($7), which is essentially bacon infused carrot cake!

Omg, the Impossible Slider will be making an appearance! Sink your teeth into the Impossible Truffle ($6), featuring a MEATLESS patty that tastes just like real meat! Sandwiched with melty cheese, and perfumed with truffle oil, the slider is incredibly delish. You won’t believe it has no meat till you’ve tried it. Hey, it’s good for both you and the environment!

5. Bettr Barista

If you need your coffee fix at the event, the reliable Bettr Barista has got your back! Sip on a well-made Espresso ($4), or perhaps an Iced Flat White ($6) is a better choice to combat the heat. A local social enterprise brewing for a good cause, Bettr Barista specializes in event services, retail, consultancy as well as coffee education. Drop by and enjoy a sensational cuppa with them!

6. Seafood Pirates

Fancy a taste of the sea? From plump seafood sandwiches to marinara-inspired rice dishes, Seafood Pirates, by next-gen hawker Darren Teo, offers delicious seafood delights. Dive into the juicy Crab Sandwich Roll ($7) or the creamy Seafood Chowder ($7) to really take in the Bay’s atmosphere!

7. Churros Republic

You can never go wrong with a stack of churros from Churros Republic! Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, Churros Republic’s churros are also Halal-certified, yay! Take your time to savour their Crème Brulee and Churros with Chocolate while you take a slow stroll through the festival.

8. Jim Beam

For those who are craving an icy cold one on a hot day, chill out with a refreshing whisky high ball at the Jim Beam Highball Bar. There are tantalising and thirst-quenching drinks such as Classic Citrus, Grapefruit, Lime & Mint and Yuzu. Unwind and soak up the festivities with a magical mug in your hand. Prices for each whiskey high ball starts at $8, but with a DBS card, you can get a mug at just $7! Grab your pals and make a beeline for the “Buy 3 Get 1 Free” offer at the Jim Beam Highball Bar!

Water Activities

While you enjoy the impressive spread of food and drink, don’t forget to catch the exciting races. Watch top international dragon boat teams paddle it out for first place in the eighth edition of the international dragon boat competition!

If you have always wanted to try sailing, here is your chance! As part of DBS’ Sailing at The Bay programme, event-goers can come onboard DBS’ sailboats and experience the city from a privileged perspective. Best part? It’s free and open to all! Better be quick though, as the sailing sessions are filled on a first-come-first-served basis!

Race The Maze

A 23,000 square feet maze, dubbed ‘Race The Maze’, will also be positioned at the DBS Marina Regatta 2019! In line with embracing a sustainable lifestyle, the maze will be constructed entirely out of RENEW, a type of compressed “straw” that is made from 95% recycled materials. Built to be the ultimate sensorial experience, the maze is a test for the mind and body. Adrenaline junkies will relish the 12-minute course where they have to run, crawl and jump their way past physical obstacles while solving key environmental issues.

What’s a festival without great live music? Local musicians are ready to take centerstage, so be sure to show your support for these talented guys! There are also tons of family-friendly activities so bring along your entire clan and have a fun day out together! Take flight with giant claw machines and challenge a life-sized Jenga tower — there’s so much to do here.

Social enterprises that are setting up shop at DBS Marina Regatta 2019 will also be hosting interesting and engaging workshops. From crafting mushroom-leather pouches to tie-dyeing shirts with coffee grounds, there’s something for everyone. You will be spoilt for choice by the plethora of enticing workshops, which are substantially discounted at just $20 per head per workshop! Attendance is confirmed via registration only, so sign up at https://www.dbs.com/marina-regatta/workshops.html before you head over, and you’ll receive a reusable cup, a tote bag and a pair of all-access passes to National Gallery Singapore!
