Brunch is one of the weekend’s best assets and is the irrefutable remedy to all of those during-the-week woes. Grand Salads Bistro is a quaint brunch spot located in the Solaris building beside Fushionopolis. When I think of Fushionopolis, the word “ulu” (meaning out of the way) appears in my mind. But now, with the opening of circle line station at One North, dining there is so much easier.

This bistro scores high marks for its huge windows, vintage finish and leafy outdoor area, a perfect setting for that glass of wine or a cup of tea. The music and excellent service make this place warm and welcoming.
The owner Michelle Kanner is a lovely lady who is originally from Israel. She came to Singapore 15 years ago and started Grand Salads. Her two other places in Suntec City Tower 4 #B1-09 and AXA Tower #B1-18 are all salad bars, specially catered for busy executives who wants a healthy meal. 6 weeks ago, she decided to set up a total different bistro concept where salads and modern european cuisines are served.

Bonjour ($12.90)
The menu has been created by New Yorker Guest Chef. The deli-inspired menu features breakfast sets from american, spanish, greek, french and all other parts of the world. From the freshest selection of ingredients, enjoy Bonjour ($12.90), poached egg with wild mushroom sauce atop fresh greens, crispy bacon and whole grain toast. My definition of a perfect poached egg an egg is where the white is no longer runny and the yolk is beginning to harden around the edges, encasing the lush, runny, flowing yolk ready for dipping the aforementioned toast. The poached egg here, however, is too well cooked that the yolk has already hardened when served.

Buenos Dias ($13.90)
Buenos dias is a greeting that means “good day” in Spanish. The traditional Mexican Omelete Buenos Dias ($13.90) comes with freshly chopped tomatoes, mushroom, onions, peppers and cheese. It is also served with a premium veal sausage. Omelettes are great ways to add nutrient dense carbohydrates into your first meal of the day! But I find the omelete too thin, they should have rolled it up and add more condiments to go along with it.

Good Morning America ($12.90)
If you prefer american breakfast, go for Good Morning America ($12.90). There are two pancakes and two eggs (cooked in your desired style) served with crispy corn beef hash. The pancake here are tasty, I was hoping they would give more. Corn beef hash was rather dry though.

Zucchini with Blue Cheese
When you order a salad ($9.50) here, it comes with a side dish like the Zucchini with Blue Cheese. The blue cheese adds the tang and the creaminess that elevate this dish to morning greatness.

Baked garlic with honey / Marmalade with chocolate dressing
Michelle makes food in jar and will serve it to guests for free as a little surprise to the whole dining experience. We had baked garlic with honey and marmalade with chocolate dressing. The baked garlic were flavourful, while the grapefruit and lemon citrus preserve were very refreshing.

End your meal with a cup of perfect Italian coffee served alongside with biscotti. Unwind with the delicious weekend brunch and enjoy the greenery outside the restaurant. There is no better way to recover from a busy, hectic week than with a leisurely weekend brunch.
