Juicy Tuesday

*sneeze* Hello world, it’s juicy Tuesday again! I get very serious cold every now and then. It will always start with a few sneezes and then followed by running nose which felt like a leaking tap. Most of the time, fever or sore throat will come later. So having this column is “forcing” myself to take in enough nutrients and boost my immune system so that I won’t keep falling sick that easily.

Just a few days ago, I was having a very very BAD cold again. It has become so regular that the boyfriend has been complaining that I am such a weakling. Besides taking some drowsy cold medicine, I made some fruit juice hoping to give me body more vitamin C. THIS RECIPE IS GOOD FOR PEOPLE WITH COLD.

We all know that orange juice is a good source of Vitamin C but I don’t want to keep drinking orange juice everyday. So that day, my aunty made me Apple Lotus Root Juice which is equally nutritious.

Lotus roots are fairly nutritive, having a good content of protein, starch, carbon hydrates, amino acids and is one of the excellent sources of vitamin C. Regular consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps the body protect from scurvy, develop resistance against viral infection, boosts immunity, hasten wound healing and remove cancer causing harmful free radicals from the body.

Delicious and crunchy apple fruit is one of the popular fruits containing an impressive list of antioxidants and essential nutrients required for good health. I am sure you have heard “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!”

100g lotus root
some honey to taste

1. Rinse apples, remove skin and seed. Cut into small pieces
2. Rinse lotus root. Cut into small pieces
3. Place both ingredients into a juicer. Add warm water and juice.

This is a good alternative for your Vitamin C boost if you get bored of the usual orange juice. Vitamin C and E helps to boost immune system so you can work around with some fruits like lotus root, spinach, grapes, watermelon, apples and kiwi. By the way, I added a cute snowman icing because it’s CHRISTMAS EVE!
