Sometimes, I wonder why am I spending so many late nights in front of the computer. But when I met some of you at the blog party, I was reminded of the motivation to keep blogging. Now that I look back, 7 years of running this food blog is really a long way (honestly, I never think I can last that long).

I held a cozy blog party with 30 readers at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel last Saturday. Big thank you to the hotel, all of us had Cafe Brio’s new High Tea Barbecue Buffet, combining mouth-watering barbecue delights with a smorgasbord of Asian and Western high tea favourites.

I started my high tea at the outdoor BBQ area with chicken, beef and mutton satay, otak-otak, chicken wings, sweet corn and tau pok with bean sprouts grilled to perfection. There was an unlimited amount of mini sandwiches, salads, dim sum and local delicacies such as braised pork belly with steamed Chinese bun, mini pork spare rib marinated with prestige coffee flavour and curry chicken with potato.

International favourites such as freshly made handroll, maki, honey chicken thigh skewers and baked prawns with mango in filo pastry will leave you craving for more. There’s also asian delights like char kway teow, steamed chicken, and chilli mussels. I was busy chatting with everyone but thankfully, I managed to grab some bites.

I asked, what’s the signature dish at Cafe Brio? So it was Nonya Laksa! The laksa which was prepared ala-minute with tau pok and quail eggs. It’s not too spicy yet packed with ingredients in a thick coconut broth and accompanied with slippery smooth rice noodles. We also did a few plates of rojak for everyone.

Of course, a good high tea barbecue buffet will not be complete without splendid desserts. Nyonya kueh, hot tau suan, yam paste with gingko nut, oreo cheese cake and a mini cupcake tower will bring the meal to a delightful close.

I managed to sit down and chat with most of the readers, put a face behind the familiar names and got to know each and everyone of them better. And also a big thank you to all of you. You guys are my motivation to keep this blog going. I was told that some of you have specially came down to enjoy the high tea on your own today. Thank you very much, I wished I had the chance to go over and say hi. Till the next!
