The Shavencat

Tanjong Pagar will never be the same again, with the latest addition to the dining and entertainment scene, The Shavencat. The place is divided into 2 different sections for the different audiences it is bound to attract. The Bar, serving a premium menu of Modern European, is open from 11am serving lunch to 3am. The Club, with its exciting live entertainment, is open from 6pm to 3am.

Nothing is left to chance here, and attention to detail is evident in its well-crafted menu of Modern European offerings, as well as its exquisite beverage menu with cocktail classics and carefully-curated whiskies and cognacs.

The Shavencat

I had an enjoyable lunch with one of my favourite women at The Shavencat some weeks back. Fresh from the oven, the humble looking 9-inch Bak Kwa Pizza ($18) comes with salted sweet dried meat and BBQ sauce, sprinkled with chicken floss for the total Singapore taste. Here, tangy meets sweet, all held together by mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

The Shavencat

My favourite dish at The Shavencat is Trio Tofu ($12). Inspired from Tauhu Goreng, this plate of golden brown fried tofu comes with shredded taupok, tofu skin, served with savoury sweet peanut sauce garnished with refreshing japanese cucumber and edamame. I love The Shavencat’s version because the ingredients are well balanced with generous amount of peanut sauce, yet the beancurd is not soggy at all.

The Shavencat

We also shared a plate of Spicy Chilli Crab Pasta ($26). The sauce and garlic chives did liven the mild flavor of crab meat and pasta but it was slightly too spicy for my liking

The Shavencat

The Shavencat’s Wagyu Burger ($28) is kept classic served with french fries with truffle mayo. The 100% Wagyu patty is well seared to a perfect medium, and is flavourful with juices overflowing and covered with cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, bacon and sauteed mushroom. The patty has a delicate smoky flavour to it.

I will probably bring my friends back here for a drink as past 10.30pm daily, the space decidedly takes on a more Chinese-y air, with 14-strong Taiwanese Mandopop and dance act Hot Shock taking the stage.
