Cafe Story – Part 2

Happy Friday everyone!

With so many different themed cafes coming up, I am also having that little dream about opening my own cafe. It will probably be a retro zakka style cafe, with large windows allowing in plenty of natural sunlight in. Besides selling a few of my favourite homecooked dishes, I will have book shelves of all the food and photography magazines. And perhaps have a small handicrafts corner!
Hey, I may have big dreams but who knows, one day it may happen? What about you? How about spending a minute and think about how would your dream cafe be like?
After receiving so many positive responses for last week’s Cafe Story – Part 1, Coffee Table People is back again with another 5 different cafes in Singapore. These two girls are real good in finding so many hidden gems in Singapore. And, their photos are taken with film camera!

Enjoy reading! 🙂

Bentos are symbolic of the Japanese food culture. Box n Sticks is pretty aptly named for the cuisine it serves (make a smart guess!). They serve good quality Japanese food with a bit of a Western fusion to them. We particularly enjoy the chill-out vibe and uber friendly services.

Enter Flor Pâtisserie, a delightful little shop offering a range of Japanese pastries. The owner of Flor, Chef Yamashita hails from Nara, Japan, and if you crane your neck hard enough, you can spot him whipping up pretty treats behind the scenes. What can possibly be wrong about this place? The answer is nothing, really. This is still our top spot for desserts in town.

We need some time to wax a lil bit of lyrical about the cafe concept. Taking on a Melbourne-styled vibe, the cafe has been ground-breaking by withdrawing all frills and taking on a uber basic layout that brings minimalism to a new T. The Plain’s menu features a lot of eggy concoctions and we hear that their sandwiches are awesome too.

This cafe is a special favorite of Michelle, being fairly near to her home. She has spend many weekend hours unwinding and dreaming at this spot. We had quite a bit of fun chatting in the cozy atmosphere. This place feels like a little backyard garden in your neighborhood. A super extensive range of beers too, if that’s your cup of tea – I mean – mug of beer.

At OSD, we were brought back 15 years to the first school days of our lives when we genuinely looked forward to school everyday! They serve up some delightfully local dishes for those in the Thompson area looking for a Singaporean bite. The chocolate cake had us smittened and it should be more accurately called the Sticky Chewy Chocolate cake! We came by for desserts but a friend shared that the mains here are awesome too.
