Er Gu Tang Shui

After we had Maria Virgin Chicken Rice, we moved on to have a bowl of dessert each at Er Gu Tang Shui. Er Gu Tang Shui has been a very popular dessert place in the 80s. The legendary dessert lady, Er Gu, makes wonderful almond paste and black sesame paste.

Unfortunately, Er Gu passed away and the stall is now handled by her godson and wife. We tried the red bean soup and sesame paste. Yes, the sesame paste is still as smooth as before but I felt that the fragrance of the sesame is not present in the dessert.

And also, it tasted more bland than the past, perhaps they are trying to cater to the older customers who visit the stall. This place reminds me of Xi Le Ting, another old school dessert place in Commonwealth Crescent Food Centre. Xi Le Ting is still my favourite so far.

Each bowl of dessert is $1.40.
