Situated at the front of the Singapore Conference Hall is a charming little cafe called Farmers and Chefs.

The pretty cafe is tastefully decorated with wooden fixtures and animal ornaments. You may feel like you’re dining in the woods.

The Farmer's Breakfast 3

We only managed to get the items on the breakfast menu as we went rather early. We had The Farmer’s Breakfast ($10), Prawn Ciabatta Sandwich ($10), and Perfect Onsen Eggs ($2).

The Farmer’s Breakfast looked so enticing and I just couldn’t wait to dig in.

The tender pieces of chicken, which had been marinated with oregano, thyme, and parsley, were grilled to perfection. The sautéed mushrooms were flavourful and I really liked the earthiness it brings to the plate. The crispy rosti was pan-fried to golden brown, and was executed so well. The fresh greens were dressed with a homemade soy mayo, which is made with soy milk, olive oil, and vinegar.  “This is because everybody can take soy milk,” the chef explained.

The buttered ciabatta went really well with the creamy scrambled eggs. And I meant CREAMY. The chef doesn’t wait for the eggs to totally set before taking it off the pan. He then adds in cream and clarified butter. What a unique take on scrambled eggs! I definitely enjoyed it very much.

For its size and the amount of ingredients packed inside, the sandwich is priced reasonably. The prawn ciabatta was a solid outfit of mashed potato, avocado, prawns, and soy mayo. The salad on the side was dressed in a citrus dressing. Even though the ciabatta had been toasted, it was easy to cut through, and we were surprised at how soft it was. Together with the additional onsen eggs which come in a bowl of broth made with konbu, dashi, and Japanese soy sauce, the sandwich makes a hearty breakfast option.

If you order The Farmer’s Breakfast or Ciabatta King before 11.30am, you can get a free coffee or tea (worth up to $6). It’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask me! It is, however, only available to patrons who are dining in.

After trying their tasty breakfast items, I will definitely be back for lunch. I can’t wait to see what else Farmers and Chefs has to offer.
