Happy Tuesday! Had a chance to meet my ex-colleagues last Friday for a crab feast at Spice Cafe @ Concorde Hotel. The restaurant serves a good spread of fresh, succulent seafood, offering 5 different crab dishes, meats hot off the grill and an array of sweet endings to round off a perfect meal.

We started with some sashimi which made the Japanese fans within the group very happy. There were a good spread of hot dishes like cereal prawns, grilled seabass (which ran out very fast), crabmeat soup, juicy satay (must try) and many more! Even though the live station is not huge, you get a nice comforting bowl of drunken prawns and laksa. The gravy is full-flavoured and well balanced, with just the right level of spiciness.

You can also choose 1 of the following: one complimentary serving of baked half lobster gratinated with cheese, or braised baby abalone with broccoli and mushroom.

For the night, we tried all 5 various styles of crab available – Thai Curry with Basil Leaves Crab, Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab, Butter & White Pepper Crab, and Salted Egg Crab. You can’t find it in the buffet line, do order from the service crew and they will deliver it to you.

Ever since the bestie introduced me to Salted Egg Crabs a few years back, it has been one of my favourites (apart from Chilli Crab). I just love the grainy textures from the salted egg yolks. Here, I wish they will be more generous with their salted egg or perhaps allow more sauce to smother over the crabs.

Butter crabs work better for me here as there are more gravy. It is an enjoyment to lick the sauce off my fingers. Curry crab has a decent amount of spices. However, I find the black pepper crab too sweet for my liking. My favourite here is the Chilli Crab. I like how the eggy sauce has a balance of sweetness, eggy-ness and not overwhelmingly spicy. Now give me some pan fried buns please!

Harvest of the Sea Buffet Dinner is available from 6.30pm to 10.30pm daily. Monday to Thursday: Adult $50++, Child $20++. Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Eve of Public Holiday and Public Holiday: Adult $54++, Child $20++.
