(CLOSED) Mr Wong Seremban Beef Noodle – Former Marine Parade Favourite Is Now In Tampines!

Another day in the East and once again, my quest for good food didn’t disappoint. Those of you who live in Marine Parade might know Mr Wong Seremban Beef Noodle, who relocated to Tampines in June this year. If you’re in the mood for Hainanese-style beef noodles, this is one trip you wouldn’t want to miss out on!

Hailed as the only Seremban beef noodle stall in Singapore, Mr Wong Seremban Beef Noodle offers both soup and dry beef noodles with laksa bee hoon, regular bee hoon or la mian. There’s also a very hefty-looking portion of Mixed Beef with Rice ($7) and Zhajiang Beef Noodles ($3.50) on the menu.

You won’t regret getting the Mixed Beef Noodles (Dry) ($6). Painting an absolutely appetising picture, the bowl was crowned with chunks of beef, tendons and beef slices with toppings of suan cai (pickled vegetables), roasted peanuts, chopped spring onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Laksa bee hoon seems to be the default here as I didn’t have any particular preference for my choice of noodles. The slippery noods were coated in a thick, luscious gravy that was deliciously sweet with a depth of flavour. It was very rich, but not to the extent where it overwhelmed the underlying beefy flavours.

Every cut of meat found in the bowl exceeded my expectations and more. The well-marinated beef slices were amazingly tender and so were the beef chunks, which have an indulgent layer of fat. The tendons were also delightfully chewy, making this bowl of noodles a treasure trove of beefy goodness.

I really liked how the suan cai added a tinge of sourness to smooth out the sweet-savoury flavours, as well as a nice crunch to the sticky braised sauce.

Everything is handmade from scratch, including the chilli which was the biggest surprise for me during this entire meal. The auntie running the stall told me that they added pineapple to it, which was immediately apparent the moment I tasted it. It was definitely unusual and quite an acquired taste. I’d still prefer the usual garlicky or sour-spicy kinds, though it did provide a refreshing change of pace.

The Beef Tendon Ball Soup ($3.50) was milder in taste but didn’t fall short. The broth, which was brewed using carrots and radish, also fell on the sweeter side thanks to the natural flavours of the vegetables. I usually don’t have much to say about radish that comes with the soup but I enjoyed how it was firm enough. As for the beef balls, they were seasoned to perfection.

I was surprised that there weren’t any lines because even if there were, Mr Wong Seremban Beef Noodle would still be worth the wait. If you’re a fan of beef noodles, this is one place you definitely shouldn’t skip out on.
