Recently, the famous Ang Mo Kio 107 carrot cake brought us to the coffee shop located at Block 107 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4. Besides the carrot cake, the other star of this coffee shop is the Indian Muslim stall. We heard they’re famous for murtabak and Indian rojak. So, our curious palates wanted to know how these fare.

The Chicken murtabak took us by surprise, as the portion is quite huge, and they are very generous with the ingredients. The Indian uncle mixes the egg with curry, before pouring it over the murtabak during the preparation process. Instead of tasting the usual eggy goodness where you can get elsewhere, the murtabak here is more flavourful, and finishes with a hint of curry spices. This item is really good for sharing!

It’s hard to resist the Indian rojak if you notice the ingredients piled up nicely in rows displayed on the food shelves. We selected a mixture of little prawn fritters, fishcakes, potatoes, Indian ngoh hiong, and fried tofu. The uncle topped the dish off with freshly sliced cucumbers and onions, and served the gravy separately. Dipping the savoury items into the thick and rich gravy gives a burst of flavours in your mouth.

The only disappointment is the prata kosong. It tasted a tad too dry and bland. We prefer ours to be more buttery and greasy. However, the pricing is very attractive! Guess what? Our total bill only came up to $10.80!

Perhaps, if we’re catching a late night movie at Ang Mo Kio Hub next time, we would pop by for a sinful supper! It only means we’ll have to put in more hours at the gym the following day, but the scrumptious murtabak makes it so worth it.
